To Date, The Camp Gary Fund has had the honor of awarding grants totaling over $360,000.00 and Scholarships totaling $65,000.00 to the following applicants:
Bridging For Tomorrow
In Northwest Houston you are never far from a zip code where some families have to choose between paying rent and buying groceries each month. The Bridging For Tomorrow Community Center equips families to change this trajectory for generations to come. Their strategy is to RESOND*INVEST*EMPOWER, accomplished through their Food Bank, Counceling Services, Educational Support and Family Services.
Camp Aranzazu
This camp in Rockport, TX is dedicated to enriching the lives of children and adults with special needs or chronic illnesses by providing unique camping, environmental education, and retreat experiences.
Children’s Coalition of Aransas County
Is dedicated to creating, educating, improving, and supporting resources for childen and families in Aransas County and surrounding areas. Founded as a response to the childcare needs created by Hurricane Harvey, they currently serve approximately 2000 area children with an economic impact in excess of $250,000.00 on the community each year.
Create A Spark Foundation
Brings the joy and opportunity of a fine arts education to every child, regardless of their economic profile or special needs. With a mission to LEARN*CREATE*INSPIRE, they offer opportunities to spark new interests and creativity, empowering children with self discovery, confidence, and success as they move forward in their lives.
Epilepsy Foundation of Texas
Is dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by epilepsy. They do so through community events and programs, such as summer camps, created specifically for children ages 8-14 living with epilepsy. These camps are supported by Texas Children’s Hospital.
Katherine Ferruzzo Legacy Foundation
Established in her honor, is a lasting tribute to Katherine’s life, her values and the people she loved most. The central focus is supporting children, especialy those with special needs and helping them to thrive. Katherine was a counselor at Camp Mystic and a hero who sacrificed her own life to try and save the lives of her Bubble Inn campers.
Journey Home Houston
Supports young ladies who have aged out of the foster care system. Their goal for each resident is growthin her relationship with Jesus Christ, while receiving room& board, educational support, career counseling, budget coaching, and therapy.
Sharpen Recovery
Provides half-way housing for men and women who are recovering from drug and alcohol addiction.
Scholarships
Have been awarded to students pursuing their dreams through education in a variety of fields, including Music, Psychology & Kinesiology.
